Title: African Butterflies
Post by: King Cartman on August 29, 2012, 05:20:01 PM
I can't get my butterfly fish to eat.  They must eat when I drop flakes in I think else they'd probably be dead.  What do they eat?  I've thrown in blood worms and brine shrimp but I never witness it.
Should I just drop a fly or 2 in there?

Your going to have to feed them live crickets if they don't eat frozen/dry woods.

If they eat live crickets then keep on feeding it to them for a week or 2 so they can settle in. Then you can start trying to feed them frozen/dry foods.

It took me a few weeks to get them off live food when i first got my old ones.

Also it can be hard for them to find food if you have lots of surface agitation... They hunt by using surface agitation to locate flies etc that have fallen in. A good trick is to shake your finger in the water and when they come out drop food in the water.... I got mine to eat food this way, Cichlids sticks worked well as they float for a while.

Mine ate any of the flakes I used and also ate any freeze dried foods I added 2 or 3 times a week.
