Title: Is it OK to add Maracyn or Nitrate to a tank with invertebrates?
Post by: Jake on January 25, 2013, 03:06:18 PM
So the last time any sort of chemical was added to my tank was when I was little kid by my Dad so I am sure this is a basic question but I really have no idea. The thought of chemicals scares me.

I am thinking about adding Maracyn and Nitrates to my water o help combat a Blue Green Algae problem. Will this be OK for my inverts?? I know they can be very sensitive to chemicals.....

3 ghost shrimp
2 amano shrimp
1 tiger nerite snail
assassin snails

Thanks in advance!!

I almost considered using Maracyn for my old 5gal because i had BGA that wouldn't go away..... Its meant to be fine with shrimp and inverts but i remember some people said it affected their bio filtration so test your water while using it!

I have started the treatment, and as of the first 2 days in, water parameters are as usual. Thanks for the help!
