Are there certain breeds of fish that develop more constipation than others? Thanks

goldfish, don't really have a proper stomach...if fed the wrong foods they don't digest them and get bound up.

If you have fish that are not pooping properly feed them de-shelled peas...Not the ones from a tin..Use defrosted frozen garden peas from a packet..heat them a little in water to help get the shells off..then let them cool before you feed

Is there a reason to use frozen peas rather than canned peas or is that a personal preference?

When things are canned, companies typically add salt as a preservative. When things are frozen, they're typically left alone. :) A frozen pea was most likely frozen raw. A canned pea was most likely partially or completely cooked during the canning process, depending on what method was used.

I de shelled the can peas and the constipation is gone from my swordtail fish.

I guess this thread turned into a good information exchange but, I somehow have to think that just by asking what to do about a constipated swordtail  would have yielded a more direct answer.  ;)

That is how we learn Russ from various people's opinions in everything in life not only fish.
