Title: Who's the killer?
Post by: kromagg on October 24, 2016, 12:33:02 PM
So I have nice stable tank with community fish... Or so I thought...
I was missing one guppy ( smallest chap) and 1 med amano... Then Just now I seen my big ass amano ( size of gouramis) nearly biting head off my neon.. Poor fella escaped in last moment..
I was creepy and make me wander was he the one to make my guppy disappeared?
Just in case I moved him in my 5g tank that almost ready for betta..

But who killed?

Those shrimp (Amano), do not have the capability to attack, catch, and bite a healthy fish.

"Then Just now I seen my big ass amano ( size of gouramis)"

What kind of shrimp do you really have????

Reads like the perfect Halloween thriller, like Agatha Christie's 10 Little Indians mashed up with a Saturday afternoon B-movie!  Could you post a pic of the shrimp?  Were it a saltwater tank I'd say, eek!, mantis shrimp!  Gangsters of the shrimp world with a strike equal to a .22.  If possible, move the big ass shrimp to a
QT tank and take a pic (or a mugshot), post it here and we'll all have a go identifying the murderer: big ass Amano in the conservatory with a candlestick...

Amanos will only go after fry or pretty small fish. Ghost shrimp are nasty and there are other shrimp not suitable for use in many tanks which will as well. When shrimp are small they can look alike. So it is possible to have some by-catch when shrimp are collected. One might not realize they have a couple of killers hiding amongst the safer shrimp at that time.
