Just a general question!
Is it possible to keep a single male betta with say 6 cherry shrimp?

It depends on the temperment of the betta, Sharle. Some will eat shrimp. Others won't. I personally wouldn't try it, but you never know. Smiley If you care to try, just put one shrimp in and see what happens.
