Author Topic: Clown and yo yo loaches?  (Read 1323 times)
« on: March 22, 2009, 02:06:59 AM »

I have three yo yo loaches in my 75 gal tank, and I was wondering if I could add a couple of clown loaches. Will they get along and will they school together? The rest of my inhabitants are as follows:

(6)- 2.5"-3.5" discus
(3)- yo-yo's (3"-4")
(1)- clown pleco (3")
(1)- leopard cory cats(1.5"-2")
(12)- zebra danio's

I love the yo yo's and they get along rather well with the other fish in the tank, even with the discus, which seem to like swimming with the loaches.

Thanks for any advice

By a lot of definitions a 75-gallon tank is suitable for clown loaches.  I think the minimum is a 6' long tank.  The clowns do far better when kept in groups of 6 or more.  that means you really need a far larger tank.

Clowns grow to a bit over 12" in length.  Properly housed and cared for they can live over 30 years.

The Yo-Yo's and clowns will hang out together.   Both species like tight caves to snuggle into as a single occupant.  They do like larger caves so they can all get together as a big group.

Why not just add to the YoYo school?  They like friends in larger numbers Smiley
