Question folks.  I am starting to develop a lot of brown algae.  I don't really mind a certain amount of algae anywhere other than the front glass since I know the fish will nibble on it but it is really getting pretty heavy on my fake structures and rocks so I feel the need to clean it off. My formerly white fake coral is now essentially brown.  Is there a recommended method for cleaning this?  I would like to take the pieces out of the tank and really get them clean but I don't want to do anything that will harm the Aquarium or especially the fish.  Thanks.

How long is the tank been set up?It often grows as a "phase" a tank goes through as it matures.its called diatoms and grows from silica that will eventually get used up.
How big is the tank?A bn pleco will eat every bit of it in a day or two.But thats only good if you have enough room and like the idea of keeping a bn pleco.

The tank is very new. It finished cycling the last week of August and I am now in the process of stocking it.  It is 55 gallons.  I don't want to put a Pleco in the tank. Since the tank is new are you suggesting I just leave it alone entirely and it may disappear?

I have used bleach in the past to clean of plastic stuff, of course you will have to rinse really well.

I am having the same issue with the 75 I have had set up for a bout 6 weeks.  I have never had algae issues in my 39, but the 75 gets a lot more sunlight.

I was going to add 1-2 pleco this weekend.  In a 75, will a single BN pleco do it, or am I better off with 2?

A single bristle noe will do fine. Remember that the pleco will also need wood to rasp on and you will need to supplament its diet with fresh veggies and algea discs.

I have a gold nugget pleco in my other tank, so I am used to keeping pleco, and love them.  I have wood in the tank already and zuccini + algae wafers ready to go:)

It sounds a little bit like blue green algae, just from the spider web description.

Any chance of a picture?
