I hope you don't mind but to stay on topic I've created two new topics/replies here:

I only wish I could fit a 55.  I like to have the aquarium where I can sit and watch it comfortably like my TV.  Perhaps I can convince the wife to rip out the never used electric fireplace and make myself a built-in 55... party

Okay, I'm now at:

7 cardinals
5 endlers (2m & 3f)
6 cory cochuis (if I can find them)
6 otos
2 ghost shrimp

I don't mind if I rarely see them, I need them for their excellent service.  Anyway, I think In time they will come around.  How much time I guess depends on lots of things like length of time you've had them for them to feel  secure with ample hiding places, the location of the tank for the amount of exposure to us human species and the frequency in which they see us.  The amount of disturbance we inflict on them, etc, etc, etc.

No doubt that pretty much all fish do venture but I still read in many places that the cochuis primarily do stay in the bottom.

I just learned of a pleco that doesn't get over 3".
I think I'll scratch the 6 otos and get just a female (or a pair) Ancistrus claro.

Endlers appreciate the company of their own kind. Do you know anyone else who has them that can absorb your singleton into their stock?

Yes Ysteb,

Myself, how many will keep them happy together?
I'm avoiding any fry so it will be all males, is that okay?

Thanks

All males are fine. They're small guys, which is nice. Just consider them schooling (even though technically they aren't schooling) and go with 6ish. Smiley Just remember, no guppies in this tank (no females, that is). Male endlers will crossbreed with them, producing viable hybrid young.

Hello again,

What do you think of this with better filtration?

What if I had a single AquaClear 50 Power Filter with one mechanical foam filter, some water floss and 2 bio-max bags on top of it all (no carbon)?  How often do you think I should change each of those considering my water change ritual of 10 gallons (more than 50%) every 5 to 7 days?

Thanks, I can't believe I may actually be able to pull it off... kewl

I want to have:

18 Cardinals
08 Cory Pygmy
06 Endler males
01 Ghost Shrimp
03 Otos

Hi again,

Just want more input on the mechanical, chemical, biological filter line-up.

Rather than Floss, what do you think of using Purigen as the chemical filter in the line-up?

Thanks

Sorry, I've decided it's best to just let happy healthy plants do what they do best naturally and forget the Purigen.
