This setup is quite incredible. Not to mention OUTSIDE! How does it survive the rigors of the outdoors? Gorgeous as it may be, those tanks seem way overstocked and incorrectly stocked...am I right?

That is amazing!
Cant say if its overstocked, dont know the total volume of the system,or if the fish have full run of the pond.Must be in a mild weather part of the world

How would the fish get into the pond Larry... those tanks are open on top, the only way to keep water in them would be if they were closed on the bottom.

VERY overstocked.  The palm fronds would tell you a hit about the climate.

I am glad I am not trying to clean the outside glass.

The tanks are closed on top,you can see it,look at the bubbles. The other video is titled "day one of my open bottom tank".You can see at least one fish swim out the bottom in the vid Jared posted.
Heres A vid of him releasing food into the bottom.

As to the overstocking,I always wonder how these "Japanese style" tanks are managed. Its a common practice in japan, the tanks are stocked to a frightening level.Yet the tanks are spotless the fish are perfect and huge.Even with daily waterchanges I don't see how its possible. But it obviously is cause of so many like that.

Watching the Vids again though,I would think the fish cant get into the pond, just the "stream" under the tank.

Having the tops sealed creates a tight vacuum between two differing water levels, leaving space for the water to flow in and out and also the fish.
