Anyone have any suggestions for a background type plant for a 6 gal planted tank?  It's only about 12 inches tall in there, so something that would be about that height, or something I can trim would be nice. The tank has 8-10 hrs of fluorescent light per day, plus a bit of indirect sunlight from a nearby window.

For low light short tanks the standard java ferns and then corkscrew val, naja grass, water wisteria, all can be trimmed as they grow, the naja and wisteria can be trimmed and replanted, all depending on the look you are going for.

I use moneywort as a background plant.  It grows as tall as you let it, and it grows fast and is hardy.  I am constantly cutting and replanting the tops as they grow up above the water surface in my 20 gallon long which is 12 3/4 tall.  I also have wisteria, but it grows massive root systems and will choke out other plants.  I keep just one and I pull it up cut and replant the top often.

Thanks for the suggestions, guys.  I'll take that list with me when I go to the fish store this week.
