Will loaches, in particular horseface and sidthmunkis, eat assassin snails?
Take care,
Mary.

Well, I got 3 of these buggers yesterday.  Still unsure of their compatibility with my loaches and amano shrimp in the 55 gallon, I put the three into my 20 gallon oregon newt tank, which is overrun with not only mts but spixis.  Within 5 minutes one was attacking a full grown spixi.  I was surprised because they are dwarfed compared to the spixis.  Within a couple of hours the other 2 had joined him.  I have since read that typically they don't go for large apple snails or shrimp, but often when first obtained they are starving and will attack the unexpected.  My only current worry about them in the newt tank is that the gh/kh is low due to the overabundance of snails, their shells are in awful shape from the calcium being leached from the water, but I'll increase water changes and add some liquid calcium for awhile I guess, as I figure out if I can add them to the 55 gallon in the future.
Take care,
Mary.

I think that there is a chance that the Loaches might try for them ..a snail is a snail after all.

as far as those assassins go though I hear that that can move pretty fast... It will be a matter of whether the Loach can get the snail.
some little hiding spots for them would be an idea..the same thing we do for our shrimp...

I would wait until you have enough of the little assassins to spare before you add them to the tank with the loaches just to be on the safe side ...

Have fun with the little things ...I hope they do what you want them too.
