Hi,

I have a new tank (3 weeks) and so far have only put 3 Assassin snails in there to combat the normal villains which ride in on plants. However, two of the snails have taken to 'floating' upside down on the (under the?) surface of the water. They then have a a wild ride in the current from the pump. I initially thought it was the moonlight bulb attracting them so switched it off, but still they climb up the side of the tank and hang upside down. They will hang there for between one and one half hour before breaking the surface tension and then falling back to the bottom of the tank, where  they wait a short time before climbing back up.

Is this normal or are they some sort of whelk extreme sport, base jumping fraternity.

Thanks for any help

Graham

It's a snail thing.  No worries.  I have some floating in my tank right now.

I'm amazed at how methodical they are in hunting down and eating the MTS in my tank.

My snails do that a lot. They are funny things.
But I need to get some assassin snails as the snails in my tank aren't very beneficial, although they do eat a bit of algae on the glass, and are multiplying like noone's business!!!
