I did a bad bad thing and I bought some of those prepackaged plants from the chain pet store. Bad idea, since most of them were decomposed. I was just excited because mostly they sell semi- or not at all- aquatic plants, and I bought a windelov fern and a java fern, that looked alive. Normally I buy them from mikeswetpets on ebay. BUT ANYWAY!

So the Windelov fern was kind of a waste. None of the leaves were attached to the rhizome. But...at the end of some of the leaves were babies. Should I let these float at the top of the tank until they develop more? The rootlets from the babies are not long enough to attach to anything, unless I tie the whole leave to a rock or wood. What should I do? These babies are TINY, but I want to try to save them. Thanks for any advice!

Yes, just let them float.  They will gradually develop a rhizome.

When in doubt, do a water change.
