I have a 30 gallon tank with 12 harliquin rasboras, two green cories and a blind pearl gourami.  It's dark substrate, lightly to moderate planting with drift wood.  Love the tank, but I'd sure like to get something that would show up more in there.  Any suggestions? I was told that since my pearl is blind I shouldn't add another so he doesn't get picked on.  I'm thinking three chain loaches, and maybe four buenos aires tetras?  Very open to suggestions!

The answer that jumps right out is increase the school of cories. Do a little research on thier social needs. Wink

Ditto. A proper school of green cories would look nice and definitely add movement and color to the bottom of the aquarium.

I had five but lost three in the move.  Plan to add three more.  So what do you all think about my blind pearl?  He's about a year old and his chest is just turning the vibrant red color.  If I got a female do you think she'd pick on him?

jjhabe,

I think you previously answered your own question about your concerns for your pearl Gourami.  Adding those loaches sounds good. I recommend you nix the tetras though and maybe just add a few more rasboras.

I kind of knew that, but I really love pearls, and want Jack to have a girl.  Wink So I think I'll just add three more cories and call it good for now.  Then my next tank I'll try something new. I have my eye on this 55 with led lighting...

Giving everyone an update.  I went with three more green cories.  Now a stupid question.  A friend is getting rid of her tank and has two albino cories she's getting rid of.  Do you think that I could put them in with my green cories and have everyone be okay?
