I have a five gallon tank with a balloon bellied molly and a snail and a couple of ghost shrimp.  Today at work we got a ton of them in, and they were huge and full of eggs! How many would be too many? They're so fascinating to me and the tank is kind of empty.

I dont think there would be a problem with filtration... But living space for the shrimp would be comprimised, you would not want a living substrate of ghost shrimp, it is not likely all or most of the ghost shrimp eggs will hatch.

Personally i think a 5gal is a bit small for a molly space wise.... Regular mollies get kinda big and are pretty active...

As far as the ghost shrimp go Id have no problem putting 15 or so in a 5gal tank....

I'm not thrilled about the molly being there, either.  He was a customer return (which after a certain time, we don't take because of isolation issues) and was going to be disposed of if I didn't take him.  He's a balloon belly, and they only get a little over an inch long and don't move very fast.  He's happy, and he wasn't flushed.  Okay, so I'll get three or four more and see how they do. Thanks!
