I am trying to keep some pond and ramshorn snails to give to a fellow near me who wants them for his puffer.  Do I need to keep them at the tropical tank temperature or are they ok at cooler temps?

Oops! Nevermind, I did my research & yes, they do best at regular tropical fish temperatures although they can tolerate cooler.  (Cold-blooded.)

Haha someone is TRYING to get pond snails? Come on over and take all you want, I can't get rid of them in my 125g! They are proliferating in there with the temp being 79-82 F. I just leave em in there to remind me not to overfeed my fish haha.

I like to add pond snails and MTS to my coldwater and tropical tanks... they survive in both.

well, no, Bman not trying at all.  I can crush the babies, but it grosses me out to do that to the bigger ones, so I started popping them into a separate tank.  Then I got dwarf puffers (recommend them to anyone! So fun!).  Then the snails got too big for them so to yet another tank.  Happily a fellow within an hour's drive has a Fahaka and is looking for snails.  So now the snail-only tank is for transferring from snail-polluted tanks and holding until I scoop 'em out for him.  Sigh.

or you could just get some more puffers   Smiley Smiley Smiley Smiley

I have a fahaka and 2 GSP's lots of snails...the more the food, the more the snails....and we found water can make a difference in breeding snails also

they seem to breed better in softer water...mystery's at least

Every pond around here has pond and ramshorn snails so Ill say no they dont need a tropical tank to survive.
