I have 1 platinum and 1 silver with dark stripes. The striped one fades out at times and just goes silver for a few minutes ( no stripes ). What is this behavior? Acts normal and interacts with me, eats good and shows interests in everything. Sooo, I am figuring this is an Angelfish trait, but can't find any information on this. Can anyone answer this?

Fish change colors with moods pretty regularly.  Its quite normal.

Wait til you sneak up on them one night when the lights have been out for a few hours, the fish are so ghastly pale you will be sure they are all dead!  They turn their colors off completely at night!

Naa you should see what taco (my tilapia) does.  He goes from uber dark purple to pale purple in 2-3 seconds, some days he has stripes other days he doesn't.  And just for fun, he sleeps laying on his side in the gravel white as a bed sheet.  The first time you see that while going pee at 2:00am..... it gets your attention!

Cichlids are perhaps the most notorious for the mood induced color changes, but lots of fish do it.

Fish change colours according to their mood...My Dwarf Cichlids colour up really brightly when they are being fed, feel threathened, when they square up against each other, when boys see girls (and vice versa) and even when i approach the tank cos they think they are being fed  lame

In fact washed out fish who are constantly dull and colourless can be a sign that something maybe wrong in the aquarium (it can be a water quality indicator)

I always notice that when I carry out my water changes my fish go completely pale but within an hour or so after the water change they are back showing their best colours because they are enjoying the fresh new water so much....
