I've got RCS in two of my tanks, and keep finding them in my filters (I have the AQ50 on one and an AQ20 on the other). I had thought they got sucked in when they were very small and just got trapped there; but this weekend I found two full-grown shrimp in my AQ20.....

Do they get trapped or do they just like it in there?

They get sucked up. Put a nylon over the intake valve and secure it with a rubber band. You can buy cheap nylons at the dollar store.
