I bought four cherry shrimp today for my 25 gallon. Also in my tank are 2 zebra nerite snails, 6 neon tetras, and four spotted corydoras. The guy at the LFS told me that the cherry shrimp should breed despite the fish in the tank as long as the tank is planted and there is a good plant for juvenile shrimp to hide in, such as hornwort. I have had some hornwort floating in my tank for about a year and a half, and it is very thick, which should be good. However, I'm not sure if the shrimp will use the hornwort if it is floating at the top of the aquarium, or if I should weight some of it down. Will the shrimp use plants at the top of the water column?

25 gallon tank: 8 neon tetras; 4 spotted corydoras, 1 ottocinclus; 1 Java fern; 1 Amazon sword

Go ahead and weigh some of the hornwort down  and leave some of it floating .
Shrimp will be all through the plants but really love a thick clump lower in the tank.
Good luck with them I love my shrimp .. they are very interesting creatures to watch .

It took 7 days for God to create this world...
So how long will it take for me to create the perfect tank???
