They are actually tricky to sex.  Some people say that the anal fin is a little longer on a male and the male can have light rosy areas on their sides.

The mystery is partially solved because I guess what you referred to as "sd's" are the silver dollars.  We still don't know what "tb's" are, though.

Your tank, at 55 gallons, is too small for a school of silver dollars in my opinion.  They get to be about 8 inches as adults and need room.

Thanks Pat,
I've cleared up the uncertainty the tiger barb abbreviation.
I must admit that they are growing by the day in the 55 so a larger tank may have to something to think about.

I have recently read somewhere that if they have a stripe through the eye then they are female.  As far as I can ascertain,  all of mine are female if this information is correct.
