We bought a long finned golden ram and noticed it had a tiny white speck on its tail. Assumed it was ich and treated with salt which I successfully used on other fish. The spot grew and another appeared on its front fin. The growths seem large for ich and I'm wondering if this is another disease. I'll try to post a photo.

Hi Kona, and welcome.
I believe you have to have 10 posts before you can post pictures. However you could look on here http://www.badmanstropicalfish.com/fish_palace/tropicalfish_disease_identification.html
to see if you can find what those spots look like.
