Hi. I have a question I am hoping someone can answer to
ease my curiosity. Last night I noticed that I have at least
5 small snails in my tank. I don't have any large snails,
never put any snails in there at all that I know of, so
I am wondering how these could have gotten in there. Just
wondering if anyone has any ideas...thanks.

Hello!
Do you have real plants in there?
Very often, live plants carry snails. They start out very
small and sometimes you can't see them. It's very
important to rinse your plats and check them out very closely
for any signs of snails or bugs. And you may want to get
the snails out because they multiply QUICKLY!! Yes, 5 can
turn into 20, then 50, then 100, then they're clogging
up your filter! Keep a close eye on them is all I have to
say.
Good luck!

Are these guys multiplying or did you just get five freebies...Because
you could always send me one of these guys as needed for
algae>>>just kidding-I love mystery snails-I
read that mystery snails and apple snails don't multiply...that
there is another type that do...

Pond snails that come in on plants multiply like crazy.
Best to get rid of them ASAP as if you wait until there
are too many and try to kill with chemicals all the dead
snails tend to pollute your water. Either net them off the
tank sides or make a snail trap with wafers or food pellets
from a film cannister. Make sure you pretreat plants you
add to your tank by soaking in water with Alum that you
can usually buy at a pharmacy.

rayanne...you can get fish that will eat the snails..like
clown loaches..or dwarf cichlids particularly(microgeophagus
ramirezi's) if you can keep them?..and as joyce
and petfanatic said..probably from plants they arrived...just
be sure to I.D. the snails..there are some good ones like
MTS and ramshorns to battle algea..
