Photo of the Month Contest Rules
How to submit a photo
- You must be a registered member and logged in
- To enter the contest, log in to the photo gallery and proceed to the
"upload file" link just as you would to add a photo to one
of your albums. At the prompt for the album in which to upload your
photo, choose the "(Photo of the Month) this month photos album."
Please include a caption for your photo. Finish the process and your
all done. The photos will go to the administrator for approval before
being submitted. The photo must be sent before the announced start of
the monthly contest. All photos received after the contest start will
go into the next month's contest.
Rules
- You must be the photographer. Amateur photos only!! We will not accept
professional photos.
- You can submit more than one photo, but the approval is at the discretion
of Badman, choose wisely!
- No more than four photos will be accepted.
- The photo cannot be more than 640 by 480 pixels, this ensures uniformity
of the pictures.
- While the upper limit is 640 by 480 pixels, there is no "small
limit, but I highly suggest you make it 640 by 480
- The photo you submit cannot be published elsewhere in print or online.
- The photo you submit may not be heavily digitally edited. The definition
of heavily is: adding/changing a background, adding or removing fish,
plants, aquascaping etc. The purpose here is to keep the photo as close
to a real photo as possible, not changed into a digital image.
- Changing contrast or brightness and cropping the image are acceptable
techniques to better your photo. Any of the tools your software has
for image enhancement or repair should be fine.
- The photograph must be of a aquarium, fish, pond or other aquatic
related subject.
- The contest is judged by you, the Tropical fish gallery members. Voting
begins sometime near the middle of each month. To cast your vote, check
the radio button below the photo you like and click on the "Vote!"
button. We'll tally up the votes at the end of the voting time frame
and give the first place winner a place of honor at the gallery. Future
monthly prizes are planed.
Voting
- You must be a registered member and logged in
- Voting is easy, either click on the thumbnail or the Blue text to
bring up the choices for the month.
- Click on the thumbnail of the photo you wish to vote for and click
the star. This will record your vote. The rating is not counted.
- You can only vote for a photo once, however you can vote for as many
of the submitted photos as you please Why I do not know as it would
tend to negate your vote, but you may be undecided between a couple
of the pictures.
