I originally started with 3 of these guys and one of them just picked on the other 2 all the time. When I discussed this with the guy in the aquarium shop he told me to put a few more in the tank and it would rectify the problem so I bought another 4 and also a Green Tiger Barb. Now they are all fine and no one is getting cornered at all. They are really hardy fish and I've found pretty easy to keep, not aggressive at all towards my other fish. I started putting a tiny bit extra food in the tank because they have a voracious appetite and no one else can get anything. When I put the dried blocks of tubifex worms in most the time one of them will manage to pull it off the glass and will swim around with it in his mouth whilst all the other fish chase him around trying to get it. It is really amusing watching them, they are the highlight of my aquarium. Would recommend them to anyone

I have three Green Tigers and they were very aggressive in the beginning, one of them was so aggressive that he bit the eye off of one of the others, I have a Fiddler Crab in the tank to and so far all they have don to it was chase it around, but he holds his own with his large claw, but after several days in the tank they have grown less aggressive to each other, but they still like to chase the crab around.

Great fish. Had several in a medium S. American cichlid tank (Dempsey, Severum, Salvani) for about four years. Active without being frantic. Good looking, but faded with age. Recommended.

I think tiger barbs are very aggressive fish. So aggressive that I have had to separate them from the rest of my fish. I don't recommend them because they are aggressive and bite other fish tails

My ten tiger barbs have lightened up my life. Actually, without the other types of fish, they are quite predictable. They seem quite ravenous during feeding but that's what I like about them.

Great site!. Thank you for the very inspiring and useful comments. I have 5 normal tiger barbs and 5 green tigers all living together with 10 neons, 2 bronze catfish and a single ancistrinae sucker mouth. The tigers do like to chase everyone, until the catfish get fed up!. The twice a day feeding is exciting to watch, only surpassed by a shoal of piranhas. Now thanks to some useful comments sent in the tetras are getting a look in, a quarter tablet stuck to the glass distracts the tigers and the tetras get some flakes. Tigers are the most interesting and colourful fish I have had the pleasure to keep.

I have 5 albino Tiger barbs and I love them. They are a good fish to have. They do not always do good with fish that have large fins. For example Angel fish, long fined Danios, African Butterfly's. The barbs will nip at there fins and sometimes even rip part of the fin off. To prevent this from happening have four or more barbs. They like to be in a school. When one is by it's self it will become very aggressive to other tank mates. Happy fish keeping.
