I have a 6 inch jack dempsey and he rocks. He owns my tank. He's killed only a couple of fish. I recently bought another jack that is small enough for him to eat and he leaves it alone. Its the size of a medium feeder fish which he eats on a regular basis. He's in a tank with some fish just as aggressive as him and he owns them all. But he doesn't attack them. dempseys are by far the greatest fish you could ever possibly own!!!!!!!

I just purchased my jack two days ago and he seems to be doing just fine. He has shown mild aggression to his tank mates. I'm still trying to figure out his personality. It's great!

If you think your adult dempsey are aggressive, then try 90-100 1/4 inch fry in an 70 gallon tank. It took about 2 days for them to find & eat all of my 25 Kuhli Loaches. A few days later I thought that an almost 10 inch Pleco should survive, and yes it did.... three days, then it was not much more left but the bones when I got out of bed....
