A small store with a fairly good selection of fish, both freshwater and
marine. A lot of cichlids, and large oddballs like huge arrowanas and piranha.
Also a good selection of corals. The owner was down to earth and friendly.
They DO have oxygen for bagging fish which you don't see everywhere and
to me indicates a good fish store. Not a large selection of dry goods but
the usual stuff is there. I did see a few dead fish in the tanks though.

Comments: Not a heck of a lot of fresh water, but healthy and he won't sell sick
ones. On the salt water side sometimes filled to the rim with corals and
fish but most of the time the tanks are 90% empty for months at a time.
Dry goods are decently priced, but their are cheaper places close by.

This store has a GREAT selection! Almost every kind of freshwater tropical
you could think of, and several I had never seen before (teardrop flounders!)
Also some beautiful saltwater tanks with anemones, giant clams, etc. When
I was visiting, another whole wall of tanks was cycling, so next time there
should be even more fish. Also a good dealer for various aquariums and supplies.
The store owner was present and very friendly, knowledgeable.

Some of the staff are friendly and helpful, others have "dive shop attitude".
Small store, but not too bad a selection of dry goods. A fairly good selection
of fish, but the fish are not very healthy. No obvious problems (ick, dead
fish) when looking at the fish for sale in the tanks, but I bought a few fish
that all became sick and died within a week after I brought them home. They
do sell tattooed fish which is a definite bad thing. Also, they don't put
oxygen in fish bags, which to me is a sign of a poor fish store.

I just wanted to comment on this wonderful shop. I have got to say that the
customer service in this shop was wonderful. I went in just to look around
for some new fish to restock my aquarium. Now let me tell you that I have
had trouble in the past keeping fish for just a few days. I started to browse
their selection and let me say this store had the best selection than any
other store I have been to so far. I was just looking when one of their workers
asked if I had needed any help. After going through my background on how horrible
I have been doing they suggested a water test. I returned an hour or so later
had my water tested and it was pretty bad. I never thought about it. Several
stores I went just wanted my money in their pockets. I got supplies to fix
my water at this store and their customer service is the best so far which
means a lot now a days. I now have a really beautiful aquarium, with decorations
that they special ordered for me, and fish that lasted so far and look extremely
happy. They also have the nicest reptile room that I have seen in a while.
They only let 2 people in at a time but the animals they have are beautiful
and well kept. They have a huge selection of dry goods and will work with
you to get items in that they don't regularly stock; this also includes their
fish selection. I think when I get this fresh water tank going for a little
bit I WILL be back to start a saltwater or an African Cichlid tank. Thanks
for your friendly customer service.

Comments:
I would first have to disagree with the comment posted on 5/7/09 as well. I was kind of afraid to come to this store after that comment BUT I did. The smell is like any other majority fish selling store their is out there. Sorry but because a fish store smells like a fish store doesn't mean I wouldn't return to that store. I visited their store before their reptile room had opened. I was looking for a reptile for my son and they were friendly enough to let me in anyway. I understand that the space is tight and that is the only reason they limit the number of people in the room, this doesn't subtract from the experience because they had a lot of animals in their room. Anything from all different types of snakes to spiders to geckos to even a large monitor lizard. They had a really good selection of frogs too. The red eyed tree frog they have is absolutely beautiful. I had decided on a bearded Dragon for my son. The customer service there is phenomenal. They helped me set up a tank for the lizard with all the lights and bowls and substrate. They went over with me how to care for my new pet and even surprised me with the age of one of the permanent residents, Harry a 13 year old bearded Dragon. They only live to be 7-10 so I know that the information they gave me will be the best for my new lizard. While they were getting everything together for me I was able to take a glance at their huge selection of fish. The tanks were made custom and looked nice. The tanks had some algae in them but I cant say that there has ever been a place that has had a completely clean tank. All their fish seemed healthy and happy. I may have to get my husband a fish tank and I WILL return to this store based on their friendly and knowledgeable staff. I don't think I will go anywhere again; friendly not to mention knowledgeable staff is very hard to come by this day and age.

I must say that I strongly disagree with the comment on 5/7. The way that
you described it I was almost afraid to go there. I'm glad that I did! I found
that they had a lot to offer. They have a huge selection of fresh and salt
water fish and dry goods as well. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
I was having problems with my 125 gallon reef tank. They did a water test
and told me exactly what needed to be done. My tank is now how it should be
thanks to the knowledgeable staff. The only complaint that I have is that
it is a little warm in there. While I was there I also checked out the reptile
room. I personally don’t own any reptiles but I found that all of the cages
were clean and it looked like the reptiles were very well cared for.

Comments:
The first thing I noticed when I walked through the door of Just Fish was
the stench of dirty animal cages. This smell, which was powerful enough at
times to be nauseating, was emanating from the reptile area in the back of
the store which I did not visit. There was a sign stating that only two people
were allowed in the reptile area at a time, not that I would have looked anyway.
The employees seemed gruff. The store had a good selection of dry goods. Next
I examined the livestock. The freshwater fish were kept in strange shallow
tanks about 8 inches deep, made of Plexiglas with partitions in between types
of fish. Holes were drilled in the partitions to allow the same water to flow
through all the cubicles in one display area through all the tanks. Many of
the fish were in extraordinarily small cubicles barely longer than the fish
itself, and different species of fish were oddly mixed together in the same
cubicles. One cubicle held dye-injected glass tetras covered with ick. Strangely
enough, I didn't see ick on any of the other fish although I did see a few
dead fish and lots with nipped fins. Livestock prices were very high compared
to other fish stores in the area, doubly inappropriate considering the poor
quality of the livestock. Their marine area looked much better than the freshwater
area, but it still had the strange tanks, although the marine tanks were about
14 inches deep and at least were large enough for the fish to move around.
The store seemed to specialize in large marine oddballs like eels and huge
lionfish. They also had a reef section with corals and anemones although some
of these appeared to be in poor condition. Overall I would only go back if
I needed a dry goods item that nobody else had.

Probably close to the worst LFS I have been into and I have been into many.
Tanks full of pesky algaes, the place smelled, fish were sick, corals were
on their way out, and the dry goods were hardly there and way over priced.
If I needed a 5 dollar item to save my favorite fish and no other store in
a 200 mile radius besides Just Fish had it... I'd drive 201 miles.

Comments: WOW! This store, in one word, is simply amazing. Beautiful fish stocked
for fresh water and salt. These guys definitely have the BEST selection
I have seen. Prices are much better than online prices and staff is very
helpful. I just started a salt water tank and they walked me through everything
step by step. I will definitely be coming back to this store in the near
future. Thanks Just Fish team!! :)

They had an extensively selection of saltwater fish but some did not seem
in good health. Prices on supplies were very high even compared to other LFS's.
I didn't like this store very much.

I bought 3 fish on this visit to the store. I spent $98.00. All 3 fish were
dead the next day. I could not get any replacements for the dead fish. The
price of items in the store are too high.

Usually a good fish store which I patronize regularly, but I called to ask
if they would order a specific product for me and the employee was rude on
the phone and would not accommodate my request. I still consider them to be
a good fish store but this is no way to treat a regular customer and if they
continue to behave in this manner I will go elsewhere.

The staff at Delaware's Premium Aquatics is very friendly, which is a breath
of fresh air compared to other fish stores I've been to in the area. Good
prices on tanks. Dry goods prices are high, though. A good selection of fish,
but they must have had a better selection in the past as now half the tanks
are empty and part of the store is closed off. No discus. My only complaint
is that they don't have oxygen equipment for bagging fish, and only single
bag the fish in very thin plastic bags. Otherwise a great store that I would
highly recommend.

Comments: This store is a hidden treasure. Located behind the Taco Bell next a couple
doors down from Staples, this place is an awesome treat compared to other
local fish stores. When I first stepped into the store I was shocked because
I had never seen that many tanks before. They have salt, brackish, cichlids
and fresh water and plenty of odd balls I've never seen in a store before.
You have to check this place out if you are anywhere near northern DE.

Comments:
I was not expecting much when I decided to step into Pet Village on a whim
while visiting the hardware store a few doors down, since this is not a fish
store but rather a pet store with offerings ranging from mice to cats. I was
therefore quite surprised to find a fairly good selection of fish supplies
and freshwater livestock. There is pond section where they sell large goldfish
and koi, and an aquarium section which has a surprisingly good selection of
goldfish, tropicals, some oddballs, and even a couple of small and overpriced
discus. Many of the fish including the goldfish looked to be in excellent
shape. Unfortunately though, I did see a number of dead fish in some the tanks,
mostly plecos. Worst of all, they did have a tank of tattooed tinfoil barbs.
There was a surprisingly good selection of dry goods, even better than some
true fish stores I've been to. Unfortunately the dry goods were highly overpriced,
usually running about double the price of buying them at Drs. Foster and Smith
online.
