It's a small pet and aquarium store, but with lots to choose from. They carry both saltwater and freshwater fish, plants, decor, etc., as well as other animals. The prices aren't bad, although WalMart is the cheapest - but also the least friendly or knowledgeable. The main person who seems to know a lot about ALL of the animals they carry (including fish) is a male who works weekdays, so come in during those times if you need to talk to him.

*Nearly every serious aquarist knows of TPP/TFP from their mail order business, but a visit to their store in Lancaster is a pilgrimage worth making. In fact, on weekends the parking lot is filled with cars from many of Pennsylvania's neighboring states.
The store itself is the size of a couple of grocery stores--over 100,000 square feet. The simple, warehouse-style building holds just about every aquarium supply made, all at or near the best retail prices available. The filter section alone is much bigger than most pet stores. There are display samples of most items out and available, so the customer can, for instance, see how easy a filter is to take apart before buying it. At times the selection can be overwhelming: there are dozens of models of powerheads, heaters, and filters, and hundreds of different types of medicines and foods. It made my head spin to choose from well over a hundred pieces of driftwood when I bought my last tank. There's also a large selection of pond supplies.
The clerks can be hard to catch on weekends when the store is crowded, but are generally helpful. If I have a serious question, I look for one of the older clerks rather than one of the part-time school kids. They keep a large supply of parts in the back of the store, so you need to ask if you don't see something.
I'm not quite such a great fan of the fish at TPP/TFP. They do have many hundreds of tanks, but tend to be pricey. And, while their selection is good in some areas like saltwater and African cichlids, it's fairly weak in others like American cichlids. I've also been unimpressed with the health of many of the fish. A fairly large proportion of their display tanks are being treated with medicine at any given time, and mutilated or bullied fish are common in the tanks with aggressive species. Their plant selection is extensive and healthy, though.
Overall my recommendation is to make a trip to That Pet Place/That Fish Place if you possibly can. Buy your fish elsewhere, but bring a pile of money and a large vehicle to stock up with all the equipment and supplies that you can since you'll never find a better selection or overall range of prices.

PetLand is a chain, but it is a franchise which means the manager is also the owner. It shows in the fish selection at this nice little store. Their inventory of supplies and equipment is moderate and a little pricey. Their freshwater fish selection, though, is very impressive for such a small store. They often have large and unusal species in addition to the usual community tank ones. Today, for instance, they have at least one large oscar, jaguar, sevrum, red terror, red devil, arowana, dempsey, and snakehead. Everything is in good health other than the ocasional battle wound. All in all, I've found this store to be the best source for fish in the Harrisburg area.

They have a large selection of freshwater and marine aquaria. Also have reptiles, birds,small animals and a wide selection of food and supplies. I think this is one of the best pet stores in the Pittsburgh area. The staff are very knowledgeable and don't use the "selling tactics" found elsewhere. They give buyers lots of information and don't try to push them to buy things they don't need. All of their pets are kept in clean conditions and appear to be very healthy. I have never had a bad experience with them.

I'm a beginner and found this store to be home out 5 store I visit in the area. The staff is superior, both guy are very knowledgable about aquariums and fishes. They take the time to share and speak from there own experience. There is a well stock gouramis, tetras, cory, barbs and other I havn't learn yet. I enjoy this store. PS: The staff bring their pets to work, large and small, friendly dogs.

I have been to every fish store in Philly & suburbs and I rank this small store among the best for fish selection. The lady who runs the fish room has awesome taste and specializes in carrying peaceful species that are also unusual. She has a decent selection of tanks, etc., but really is best to visit for the fish selection. (Peaceful cichlids, different varieties of Gobies, etc.) Great prices, too.

Get Tanked Aquariums is a saltwater only store. That has about 600 gallon fish room and his coral room has one 125 gallon reef system, three 180 gallon reef systems, one 120 gallon and a 90 reef system that the owner is working on setting up now. All his coral retail tanks looks like show tanks. You should see all the filtering systems that he has hooked up to his retail fish tanks. Like sumps with live rock, 120 watt UV, three 6' proteins skimmers. The own say's that he does not use copper in his retail fish tanks at any time. I all ways say, if you want to know how good the information that any aquarium store owners gives you, their shop tanks speak for them self. His store is saying: This he knows what he is doing and he is good at the saltwater hobby. He custom makes his Stands & Canopies, 6' protein skimmer, wet/dry filters, and custom lighting systems.
I rate this store a big 10!

His display tanks are fantastic. He is FANATIC! If you're interested in being lectured for an hour on how dumb you must be to buy manufactured products, give this guy a try. The store is set up in his garage and he can go on for a half hour about how he doesn't use ANY store bought foods or salts or regular water. This man is a die hard collector. You probably have to go through an adoption process to buy a fish, and promise photos and visitation rights.

They carry fresh and salt water fish and supplies. This is a very small store, their selection really stinks. They have about 2 fish in each tank. They do offer a "club card" for pretty nice discounts. A friend of ours uses only JS&K for his salt water fish, everything is a special order but in good health. The staff seems knowledgeable about everything we've asked and very polite. They also service salt water tanks for businesses around town.

This store is awesome. Not A big store but they sure do have a huge selection of things jam packed inside of it. The store and the tanks are very very clean and well taken care of. The have a great selection of corals and live rock for saltwater tanks. If you have a nano cube this is the place to go they have coral frags for 5.oo% and up which are great. Also if you join the club you can buy either 2 fish or 2 corals and get one free for equal or lesser value. The people there are great and very friendly. They are also know there stuff and what they are talking about. IF you are a beginner or have a small tank this is the best place to go to for help.

This Store was really amazing! Very clean tanks. Live stock looked fantastic and their was a great selection of tropical fish, pond fish and saltwater fish & corals. I spoke with their store manager for quite a while and he was very helpful with all of my questions. I really enjoyed my visit and will be back soon.

One of the most honest stores I've ever dealt with. Friendly, knowledgeable, and they actually care about the customers. The absolute best in the Lehigh Valley.

This is the ich capital of Pa. Fish are all in poor health underfed and sickly. I would stay away from this store. They say they know their fish, well take it from me they know nothing about Africans but of course they will sell you sick fish and have no idea what they are selling. STAY AWAY>>>>>>>>>>

The fish selection is decent, the prices of the livestock are average, but beware of the live rock scale! that scale seems to weigh about twice as heavy. And at roughly $6.00 a pound, that's just robbery!

This store has a huge selection of saltwater and freshwater fish. Specializes in exotic aquaria. Huge selection of coral!! Very experienced staff with knowledge surpassing the average aquarist. They also have a huge 1300 gallon show tank that is absolutely amazing. Store is not very big but is Jam-packed with everything you need. If they don't have it in stock they can get it for you. Good prices, they sell for same amount as online so you cant get it cheaper somewhere else.

This particular Petco actually has and aquarium 'specialist' on-staff. He cares about the health of the fish to the point, that when he noticed ICH in a few tanks, he shut them all down for days to treat and make sure they were all healthy again before he sold any to us. Of all the fish I purchased there, (knock on wood) they are still alive and thriving! He's full of knowledge and takes the time to help customers with their questions, as well as to inform them about the 'cycle', compatibility, everything we discuss here online. Kudos!

This stop is great it has it all Saltwater, Freshwater, and Reptiles and even dog food and treats and toys. The store is a good size has a great selection of Saltwater fish and corals.
