There is some confusing among the species identification,
they can be labeled as Metynnis hypsauchen, Metynnis argenteus
and Mylossoma duriventre. Whatever the species their needs are
basically the same.

Up to 6 inches (15 cm)
Habitat:
SOUTH AMERICA: Amazon and Paraguay River basins.
Min Tank Size:
55 gallons or larger for schools.
Diet:
Mainly herbivorous, will accept most flake foods,
frozen, live and freeze-dried. Must have vegetable matter as a
primary part of its' diet
Behavior:
Peaceful and active schooling fish, should be kept
in groups of 6 or more. Will eat any live plants.
Water:
Water Chemistry not critical, temperature 75 - 84°F
(24 – 29°C) pH 6.0-7.0 dH range: 4 - 18
Care:
Easy, keep in schools.
Communities:
Excellent, keep in schools with other peaceful fish.
